KONE MonoSpace® DX

Product overview

What the KONE MonoSpace® DX is

The KONE MonoSpace® DX is a machine-room-less passenger elevator for residential and commercial buildings. It belongs to the KONE DX platform, and the brand pairs that platform with EcoDisc® disc-motor technology, so the series is positioned as a flexible volume product that can be configured across a wide spread of building types instead of being tied to one duty.

The published envelope is wide for a single series: a rated load of ≤2,500 kg, a rated speed of ≤3.0 m/s and a travel of ≤48 floors / 120 m.

That breadth is the main thing to understand about the product. A residential block and a mid-rise office building can both be served from the same series, but the car, door, drive and controller configuration for each will be different, and the values above describe the outer limit rather than a typical unit. KONE operates in China through a local company with manufacturing in Kunshan and a dual-brand strategy in that market.

Where it fits in a project

The series appears in apartment and residential towers, office buildings, hotels, retail and mixed-use schemes. In residential work it is usually chosen for a repeating core where several identical cars are installed, and in commercial work for buildings where the core does not justify a bespoke high-rise product.

Because the envelope reaches well beyond low-rise, the same series can cover a residential podium and a taller office element on one site, which simplifies spares and maintenance for an owner with a mixed portfolio. Projects that sit near the top of the speed or travel range should be reviewed early, since shaft straightness, overhead and pit dimensions become less forgiving as speed rises.

New build is the main application, and the machine-room-less layout frees plant space on tight plots. Modernization is possible where an existing shaft can accept the car and the machinery, but the shaft survey then decides the configuration rather than the catalogue.

Buyers typically ask about standardization across a building programme, car and door options, the interface to access control, and how the machine is reached for maintenance when there is no machine room.

What to check before you specify it

Compliance and documentation

For CE-marked markets the unit is designed and tested against EN 81-20 for safety rules and EN 81-50 for tests and examinations, with the manufacturer's type examination supporting the declaration of conformity. In China, GB 7588 is the governing safety standard, and units built for that market are documented against it.

Neither route is automatically accepted in a third country. Requirements of the destination country are confirmed by the buyer, since registration, import approval and inspection are national or local processes that can impose conditions beyond the elevator standard.

A shipment is normally accompanied by the type examination certificate for the model, the certificate of conformity for the units supplied, the packing list, and the test reports from factory testing. ElevApex does not issue these documents and does not certify products. We coordinate the package with the manufacturing partner and check that certificates, nameplate data and the purchase order agree before dispatch. Third-party inspection can be arranged where the buyer's contract or the destination authority requires an independent witness.

Supply, inspection and shipping

ElevApex is a multi-brand supplier, not a manufacturer. Equipment is sourced from Chinese manufacturing partners, and our function is to match the model to the project, compare several brands in one enquiry, and keep documentation and logistics on one schedule. There is no ElevApex factory; the unit carries the brand's nameplate.

Factory testing is where a specification error is still cheap to correct. The buyer may witness the test or appoint an inspector, and car dimensions, door configuration, controller settings and nameplate data should be checked against the order at that point. The inspection record and test report then travel with the shipping documents.

Packing follows the installation sequence: guide rails, car panels, landing doors, machinery and controller are crated separately, with finished panels protected against scratching and electrical items against moisture. Shipment is normally by sea freight, with the delivery term and risk split fixed in the contract. The usual nodes are handover at the factory or port, ocean transit, destination clearance and inland delivery to site, and level storage should be ready at the building before the crates arrive.

Frequently asked questions

Does MonoSpace® DX require a machine room?

No. The series is a machine-room-less product, and the machinery is arranged within or beside the shaft. The exact layout and the maintenance access are confirmed on the project drawing.

Can one series really cover both residential and office buildings?

Yes, within the published envelope. The car size, door type, speed and finishes differ between the two duties, so the series is common but the configuration is not.

What happens if a project exceeds the published travel?

It moves to another product in the portfolio. That decision is taken during the core and traffic study, and it is better settled before the shaft dimensions are frozen.

Can the unit be supplied for a market that requires CE marking?

A CE route under EN 81-20 and EN 81-50 applies where the destination market requires it, and the route is stated in the offer. The requirements of the destination country remain for the buyer to confirm with the local authority.

Is third-party inspection available?

Yes. Third-party inspection can be arranged on request, either at the factory or before loading, and the inspection record is issued with the shipping documents.
