meta200
Product overview
What the meta200 is
The meta200 is a passenger elevator platform in the TK Elevator meta series, positioned by the brand as the mid-premium workhorse for commercial and residential buildings. In the supplier’s hierarchy it sits below the high-rise TWIN and MULTI systems, which makes it the platform normally quoted for offices of moderate height, residential towers with a lift lobby, hotels, retail podiums and mixed-use blocks where ride quality and finish consistency matter more than headline speed. TK Elevator (China) Co., Ltd., formerly ThyssenKrupp Elevator, entered the Chinese market in 1995 and covers passenger and freight elevators, escalators and moving walks, with installation, modernisation and maintenance alongside. The platform is rated to a maximum of 2,000 kg and 3 m/s; within that envelope the rated load, speed, car size and door arrangement are fixed by the project specification rather than by a catalogue default.
Where it fits in a project
The usual applications are speculative and owner-occupied offices, serviced apartments and residential towers, hotels with a separate service car, retail podiums, and mixed-use developments that combine several of these in one core. Because the platform is a volume product rather than a bespoke high-rise system, it is most economic where the building profile is regular: repeated floor-to-floor heights, a repeated core, and a car group sized by a traffic study rather than by an architectural assumption.
In new build the meta200 enters when the core is being fixed: shaft dimensions, pit depth, overhead clearance, machine-room provision and rail bracket loads come from the layout drawing, and late changes are expensive once the structural package is issued. In modernisation the shaft is surveyed first and the platform adapted to the measured space. Clients ask for a capital cost that holds through the programme, a car interior that matches the lobby, spares that are not imported on demand, and a documented interface with fire alarm, access control and building management.
What to check before you specify it
- Confirm rated load and speed from the traffic study; 2,000 kg and 3 m/s are platform limits, not a recommended selection.
- Ask for the machine-room arrangement in writing; machine-room and machine-room-less versions are not interchangeable in a fixed core.
- Check shaft width, depth, pit depth and overhead against the layout drawing before the structural package is frozen.
- Verify stops and travel against the platform envelope; a taller building moves the design to another platform.
- Size car and door opening for the largest realistic load, including stretchers or trolleys where the building type requires it.
- Confirm the destination code and whether a firefighting or evacuation lift is required in the core.
- Agree builder's work: pit waterproofing, shaft ventilation, landing sills, hoisting beams and permanent power.
- List the interfaces in one document: power and earthing, fire alarm, access control, CCTV and the building management protocol.
- Ask which assemblies are imported and which localised, since that split drives spares lead time and customs documents.
- Approve finishes from samples, and fix warranty scope, maintenance provider and handover protocol in the contract.
Compliance and documentation
The compliance route depends on the destination market, not on where the equipment is built. For the EU and EEA, a meta200 supplied from China is placed on the market under CE marking, assessed against EN 81-20 for the safety rules of construction and installation and EN 81-50 for design rules, calculations, examinations and tests of lift components. In China the governing standard is GB 7588. Other destinations apply their own lift codes, and several require local type approval or an acceptance inspection before the unit may carry passengers. The applicable code is confirmed by the buyer; the order is then specified against it, and any gap between the Chinese design basis and the destination code is identified before production rather than at site.
Documents normally required: type examination certificates for the safety components and, where the market requires it, for the lift model; the certificate of conformity and declaration of conformity; factory test reports and the commissioning record; the packing list; and the installation and maintenance documentation. Third-party inspection can be arranged at the factory before packing or at destination. None of this replaces the conformity assessment the destination market itself requires.
Supply, inspection and shipping
ElevApex is a multi-brand supplier rather than a manufacturer. Equipment is sourced from Chinese manufacturing partners, and for the meta200 the platform comes from the TK Elevator organisation in China. Our scope is the commercial and documentary side of the order: specification review against the destination code, placement with the manufacturing partner, factory liaison, inspection, export packing, certificates and shipping. Where a project mixes elevator and escalator packages, several brands can be consolidated into one shipment so that site deliveries arrive in the sequence the programme needs.
Pre-shipment inspection is where most site problems are avoided: completeness against the packing list, car and landing panels against approved finish samples, controller and machine serial numbers against the order, safety component markings against their certificates, and a run test at the factory or test tower where one is available. Third-party inspection can be arranged where an independent record is required. Packing follows the installation sequence: rails in banded bundles, panels in plywood cases, machine and controller on shock-absorbing pallets, small parts crated by assembly group. Shipping can be quoted EXW, FOB or CIF, and the loading plan is issued with the packing list so that rails and templates arrive before the interior.
Frequently asked questions
Is the meta200 a machine-room-less elevator?
The platform is offered in more than one arrangement across markets. The arrangement for a project is confirmed on the layout drawing before the shaft design is frozen.
What capacity and speed can the meta200 reach?
The platform is rated to a maximum of 2,000 kg and 3 m/s. The actual load and speed are selected from the traffic study and stated in the contract specification.
Can it be used in a modernisation project?
Yes, subject to a shaft survey. Existing dimensions, overhead clearance, pit depth and landing positions are measured, and the configuration is adapted to them.
Which standards apply to an exported meta200?
EN 81-20 and EN 81-50 for CE marking markets, GB 7588 for China, and the national code of the destination country. The buyer confirms which governs the project.
Can third-party inspection be arranged before shipment?
Yes, at the factory before packing or at destination after arrival, with the report issued to the buyer as part of the shipment documentation.
